POLARIS SPORTSMAN and SCRAMBLER clutch kit

There are many variations of the Sportsman and Scrambler, we have worked on and perfected clutches for each of them from the newest Sportsman and Scramler 1000 all the way down to the Hawkeye and Sportsman 90. The work we do for each will depend on your needs and your budget. We have tried many different clutch kits on the market to see what works best and what gains are available, and in certain applications we do offer kits to use in your stock clutches that will give you decent gains. The smaller 90 and 125 cc machines have a small centrifugal clutch system that we machine the stock clutch and modify the moving parts to help manipulate how the clutch works to gain more efficiency, more low gearing at engagement to allow the machine to really rip when you stab the gas, accelerate faster, and run more top speeds. The older Sportsman 400 and 500HO we can either modify your existing clutches to gain efficiency or replace the primary drive clutch to gain even more performance and throttle response and belt longevity. These older machines were super popular years ago and there are many that need repairs and replacements so we definitely keep parts for them in our arsenal. The Sportsman 700 and 800 is where we really started getting creative and looking for max gains for guys pushing the envelope on riding the bigger bore and pulling larger tires. In these machines we offer optimized clutch kits for budget minded owners, but if your budget allows we can replace the complete primary clutch to gain twice as much clamping force to the belt over a stock clutch, gain smoother and a more definite crisp engagement, faster acceleration and the ability to run more top speeds. For the guys with the largest tires possible we need the maximum gear ratio thru the clutch so we designed a setup that replaces the primary and secondary clutch and allows us to run a longer belt. This larger diameter primary and larger diameter secondary allows us to run a longer belt that will ride higher in the secondary to gain a lower gear ratio. This works almost identical to running a larger sprocket on a dirt bike and a longer chain. This larger secondary and longer belt allows us to gain 30-33% lower gear ratio at the initial engagement for the max low gearing to pull the largest of tires. Because the primary is also a larger diameter than stock, we also gain a taller gear ratio at the high speeds. This allows us to gain the max low gearing at take-off as well as the tallest gearing at high speeds. In the Sportsman and Scrambler 850-1000 we also worked to build an awesome setup for them. We can also replace the primary clutch for the maximum performance, and build the clutch to run a longer belt to gain us the max low gear ratio similar to the setup we did for the 700-800. In the 850-1000 we didn’t have the available room to run a larger secondary clutch but we were able to squeeze a longer belt in without rubbing on the stock secondary. With our new primary clutch and longer belt we are able to gain a 15-18% lower gear ratio at the clutch engagement. This allows for the maximum low gearing and pulling power when running larger tires. This setup starting out in a lower gear ratio really helps with the low end feel to give you tons more low gear ratio and punch off the line, even when used for drag racing this setup allows you to launch off the line harder. Since our primary is lighter than the stock primary, it also allows you to accelerate faster. In many ways this is by far the best setup money can buy. We have different variations, different secondary springs and roller secondary upgrades for racing, once you send us an email or give us a call we can talk about your specific application and what your needs will require to give you the best performance and fit within your budget.
